Responsibilities:
Under the general direction of the Manager, Early Learning Centre, the incumbent will provide a seasonally nutritious diet for children from infancy to five years of age.  This involves maintaining the kitchen operations according to the Day Nurseries Act; the Food and Health regulations and the Early Learning Centre’s (ELC) policies and procedures.

Qualifications:
  • Toronto Public Health Food Safety/Handler Certificate;
  • Knowledge of Day Nurseries Act and Food & Health regulations;
  • Experience in vegetarian cuisine and cooking for large groups;
  • Experience in working in an industrial kitchen;
  • Experience in ordering and managing monthly food budget;
  • Experience in working with families;
  • Post-secondary school training in cooking an asset;
  • Current CPR & First Aid Certificate;
  • Self-motivated;
  • Hiring subject to a criminal check.

Normal working hours are 36.25 hours per week from Monday to Friday; Overtime may be required from time to time.

Start Date is August 26, 2014.

Annual Salary: $43,274
