Role Summary:
As an Event Cook you will have a significant impact on our clients catering and convention experience.  With 17,000 sq. ft. of convention space, Delta Toronto will host events that keep our guests enticed to return.  The food & beverage experience will complement our commitment to being Toronto's finest 4-star hotel.  Menu items will be fresh, exciting and interestingly familiar.
The Event Cook's responsibilities also include:
  • Providing support to the culinary team to ensure an elevated and seamless preparation of food for our catering and conference customers, exceeding their expectations at every opportunity and/or meal period. 
  • Actively involved in the production, preparation and presentation of all food items in Banaquet functions, ensuring all food is prepared as per Delta's specified brand standards.
  • Responsible for completing for prep for high-volume functions, while cooperating with and assisting fellow culinary colleagues to ensure a smooth and efficient operation.
  • Maintain a favourable working relationship with fellow colleagues in Banquets and in the Kitchen, as well as with colleagues throughout the hotel/company.
  • Work collaboratively with fellow leaders and colleagues to resolve customer concerns through service recovery. 
  • Demonstrate our value of teamwork by genuinely cooperating and assisting fellow colleagues.
  • Both at work and away from work, project a favourable image of the Restaurant.
  • Perform any additional duties as assigned by department leaders.
Qualifications:
  • Must be available to work a variety of shifts, including weekends.  Hours of work will be scheduled based on business volumes/operational demands and will vary. 
  • Must have technical or culinary school training and current Food Safe Certification.
  • Demonstrated experience working in a fast paced, high-volume production Kitchen is an asset.
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong organization skills in a Kitchen environment.
  • Results oriented with the ability to be flexible and work well in a busy and demanding environment.
  • Proven experience building positive working relationships.
  • Must be energetic, enthusiastic and self-motivated, with the ability to work effectively in an innovative and multi-tasked environment.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.  Please note that the hotel is unable to assist candidates in obtaining Canadian work authorization.
