Position:    Cook 
Site:     Lyndhurst Centre- Toronto Rehab
Department:   Nutrition Services 
Reports to:    Supervisor       
Hours: 15 hours per week; Shifts: Alternate weekends as required, various start times; 6:30, 8:00, 9:30
Status: Permanent Part-Time

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Prepares safe, nutritious and attractive meals for patients, staff and visitors
  • Minimizes waste to control costs
  • Assists with breakfast tray assembly
  • Records and monitors temperatures to ensure that HACCP and safety standards are met
  • Provides relief for full time cook
  • Provides suggestions to improve efficiency and quality
  • Compliance with and commitment to patient safety responsibilities and corresponding hospital plans, policies and procedures      in order to ensure a safe environment for patients.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Cook Trade Papers or College Diploma in Cooking with commitment to obtain cook trade papers within one year of hire
  • Food Handlers Certificate is an asset
  • Cooks "Red Seal" required
  • Proven experience with large quantity cooking methods and catering food preparation
  • Proficiency in reading, writing and oral English language
  • Excellent safe food handling skills
  • Good manual dexterity and organizational skills - able to complete work within time allotted
  • Able to work effectively with other members of the team
  • Available to work between the hours of 0600 and 1830 hours on weekdays - alternate weekends required
  • Good attendance is required
